This year, European Vocational Skills Week will centre on the theme of VET and the Green Transition. The theme is in line with the European Commission’s commitment to taking all the necessary steps to become carbon neutral by 2050, known as the European Green Deal, including equipping people with the appropriate skills for the transition. Events organised by the European Commission will be held on 18-19 May 2022 – including the flagship VET Excellence Awards (18 May).

Pori, Finland
More than 40 skills, hundreds of competitors and tens of thousands of visitors together create Taitaja, the biggest educational event in Finland, held this year in Pori. The event aims to promote vocational education, improve connections between vocational schools and companies, and increase the awareness of vocational education and professional skills. As part of the event, there is a free, international seminar held, which can be participated virtually from all over the world. Unfortunately, international competitors cannot be included in the competition this year.

National Exhibition and Convention Center (Shanghai), China
The dates for the 46th WorldSkills Competition, previously scheduled for September 2021 in Shanghai, China, have now been scheduled for 12–17 October 2022. WorldSkills International announced last November the postponement of the championship by one year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
It was also agreed that the WorldSkills Conference, which runs parallel to the Competition bringing together leaders in education, government, business, and industry from around the globe, will take place on 13–14 October.
