Newsflash-news.png

Lille, located in the Nord-Pas de Calais Region in France, will host the next EuroSkills 2014 competition from 2 to 4 October 2014. The only European skill competition for young professionals up to 25 years in 42 professions puts the focus on the performance of hundreds of European talents, selected through skills competitions in their own countries. The best of the best young European professionals will showcase their talents in October in Lille. They deliver a spectacular promotion of skills and professions and present a concrete example for youngsters to follow.

Nearly 450 young people coming from 26 European countries will compete during 3 days in modern, state of the art skills and traditional skills, in order to select the best European professionals.

The competitions are grouped around six pillars: Transportation and Logistics, Construction and Building Technology, Manufacturing and Engineering Technology, Creative Arts and Fashion and Social and Personal Services. Within the pillars, the 42 professions representing the same nation work together and combine their skills.

Every day a jury marks the advancement according to criteria and requirements defined by the current services, firms and industries working in Europe.

At the end of the competition, EuroSkills celebrates the winners of this 3-day-long contest and lifetime experience!

3 days for professional and social exchanges, skills benchmark and politics

During the EuroSkills competition, which is held every two years in one of the member states, international industry partners, governmental agencies and educational institutions come together to encourage world class standards of skills and competences in Europe.

The richness of this competition, which unites the know-how of delegations composed by professionals coming from over 26 European countries, allows a perfect overview of best practices and current European competency standards in the industrial trades and services sectors of the global economy.

Beside the competition, conferences and workshops are organised in order to bring forward the promotion of apprenticeship as well as knowledge linked to skills and professions.

For many of the candidates, EuroSkills is the first step to transnational mobility, which is now firmly established as a didactic tool for apprentices in initial vocational training in Europe.
