EuroSkills Lille 2014 from 2th – 4th October is on the European agenda. The event will be visited by several European ministers and Eurocommissioner Làszlò Andor.
EuroSkills 2014
This week, Grand Palais de Lille will host the 4th EuroSkills event; the largest European skills competition. EuroSkills is a spectacular promotion of trades & skills, centered around the professional performance of hundreds of talents, selected through competitions held in their countries. It is a unique event with international visibility, in which a considerable number of institutional partners from European & several national and regional governments, business & educational sectors, are involved. In total 420 competitors from 25 countries will compete at this year’s EuroSkills event.
The event
In a competitive and constantly changing world, skills competitions motivates and inspires future generations to ensure that they understand that trades & skills can provide personal and professional fulfillment. EuroSkills 2014 isn’t just about competing: for the visitors it is about discovering and trying trades, getting information about training programs and meeting tomorrow’s highly qualified young European professionals. It is the place where the European leaders of industry, education and training will come together at seminars, conferences and meetings.
International VIP’s expected
The EuroSkills event raises the image, quality and attractiveness of the European vocational education and training systems and give an opportunity to politically address this. A number of visits have been scheduled by several important people. During the Opening Ceremony on Wednesday October 1, the European Commissioner Làszlò Andor will address the competitors, on Friday October 3, WorldSkills France and WorldSkills Europe are proud to welcome the French minister of Labour, Vocational Training and Social Dialog Mr. François Rebsamen and the French Minister of Education Ms. Najat Vallaud-Belkacem. Also the Ministers of Education from Finland & Hungary and several State Secretaries will visit the event. In addition, a big international VIP delegation with Members of Parliament of participating member countries, ambassadors and CEO’s from various Chambers of Commerce will be present during EuroSkills 2014. With their presence they acknowledge the great importance of skills to society.
EuroSkills 2014 is jointly organised by the Region Nord Pas de Calais, WorldSkills France and WorldSkills Europe and is supported by the European Commission, the French government, partners and sponsors from the business society and regional schools.
