Celebrating Italian Champions at WorldSkills Piemonte 2024

With more than 10,000 visitors, it was a welcome return for the sixth edition of the WorldSkills Piemonte Professional Championships in Turin this week.

The most talented young professionals from five Italian regions were celebrated at the WorldSkills Italy Piemonte 2024 Closing Ceremony on Thursday, 24 October, for their commitment to achieving world-class excellence in their skills.

Around 130 students and apprentices from 73 technical and vocational education and training (TVET) schools and 12 companies came together at Lingotto Fair Turin from 23 to 24 October to compete for a chance to become the best of the best in 16 skill competitions at the sixth edition of the WorldSkills Italy Piemonte Professional Championships.

Competitors were accompanied and supported by 85 teachers and Experts and were also joined by international guest Competitors and Experts from other European nations (Austria, Luxembourg, and Switzerland) to compete in a wide range of skills, which included traditional vocations such as carpentry and hairdressing, modern disciplines such as mechanical engineering design CAD, and inter-disciplinary skills such as robot systems integration.

The highest performing Italian Competitors at the Championships will now be selected to compete on the national stage at the WorldSkills Italy National Championships 2025 in Bolzano, as well as having the chance to earn a spot in the national teams that will participate at EuroSkills Herning 2025 and WorldSkills Shanghai 2026.

More than a Competition – inspiring students of all ages

WorldSkills Italy Piemonte 2024 was held as part of the IO LAVORO (I WORK) Fair in Turin, which is organised by Agenzia Piemonte Lavoro. In addition to staging the Championships at the Fair, the WorldSkills Piemonte team also organised a Tour of Professions for around 3,000 middle school students who visited, introducing them to the world of work through engaging Try-a-Skill activities in construction, transport and logistics, and service industry skills.

WorldSkills Piemonte also organised a dedicated Tour for visitors aged between 15 to 29 years-old, with a programme featuring careers workshops, CV writing and job application surgeries, and information sessions about Italy’s Higher Technical Institutes (ITS) and the free two-year courses that are currently offered by the Institutes.

Organisers

WorldSkills Italy Piemonte 2024 was organised by WorldSkills Piemonte and supported by 28 Sponsor and Partner companies, including WorldSkills Europe Premium Sponsors Autodesk, Fanuc, and Festool, and Skill Sponsor Mastercam, as well as many participating TVET institutions.

The Italian regions involved in WorldSkills Italy, Piemonte 2024 included Emilia-Romagna, Lombardia, Piemonte, Trentino Alto-Adige, and Veneto.
