Vacant Board position: treasurer

Only applicable for WorldSkills Europe members

Dear WorldSkills Europe members. As you may recall from Abu Dhabi the extra-ordinary General Assembly, after an open call for nominations for 7 Board positions, done in Namur. The Nomination Committee, at the extra-ordinary GA in Abu Dhabi, could only forward 6 positions for approval. For the position of Treasurer there were no nominees submitted.

Our existing Board member – Treasurer ,reaches his 2 terms in 2018, which means that during the GA in Budapest, we have to elect a new Treasurer, to secure a full functioning of the Board from there on out.

WSE existing Bye Laws, Article 3 (Election of Board Members, 3.1. Prior to Elections) says:

  • 3.1.1 Five months prior to the General Assembly meeting at which an officer or officers will complete their term(s) of office, the Secretary General will invite Members to submit nominations for the election of candidates for these positions. Nominations are to be submitted to the Secretariat no later than three months before the next General Assembly meeting.
  • 3.1.2 To be confirmed a nominee must present evidence in writing that he/she has the support of the nominating Member and any other support necessary to carry out the responsibilities of the office for which he/she is nominated, and provide a statement indicating the skills and experience he/she has for the role (candidates may be nominated for more than one position). Elected officers who are no longer delegates are eligible for re-election in any position.
  • 3.1.3. The Secretary General will notify the Members of the candidates nominated for election at least one month before the General Assembly meeting. (we will inform you about candidates on February 7th)

The nomination committee proposal for the Board composition, terms and election of nominated Board members was sent out to you on October the 6th. There it was noted that a Call for the nomination of the Treasurer position is in force, as the 2 terms of Mr.Paul McGuire are ending in 2018. From October 6th we know that we are looking for a new treasurer to be elected at the next GA in Budapest, on March 7th.

Hereby the Board reinforces the notification, that we are open for the nominations for that position. On December 8th, during the Board meeting in Riga, the profile of the desired Treasurer was updated and it is as follows:

The essential function of the Treasurer as a member of the Board of Directors is to assist the Board of Directors to discharge its fiduciary responsibilities in managing the funds entrusted to it by the Members. They review requirements for ensuring the quality of the financial system; works in close cooperation with the General Manager and auditor; and reports on the annual accounts and the budget at the General Assembly. The Treasurer shall also undertake a risk management role in identifying financial, legal, and reputational risks to the Organisation, its officers and stakeholders and ensuring that appropriate risk management strategies are in place.

Dear Members,

We hereby invite you to nominate your candidates for this Board position.

Respective CV, motivation letter and nomination letter can be sent to president@worldskillseurope.org until February 1st.

Please note, that candidates cannot be persons representing : Latvia, Austria, Finland, Hungary, France and Belgium, as those countries are already represented in the Board.
